Demon possession vs. God possession

Is the Bible real, or a fairy tale? After all, it was written by mere men.

Once thought of as an archaic subject matter, demonic possession is now being seen as something real.

Over the past 2 decades, heightened interest, due to various prime time television shows, numerous groups forming to hunt ghosts, podcasts, movies and videos about the various subjects in the realm of the paranormal; all of these, combined with man’s innate nature to explore the unknown, have both exposed and heightened interest in demons and possession.

By now, most people in the paranormal field, or those having an interest in the paranormal, will agree, demonic possession is a real, and dangerous situation.

Personally, I have had experiences in this realm for the past 50 years; not just experiences, but interactions. Suffice it to say, I have learned a lot about the supernatural, both negative and positive.

So, where am I going with this? I want to talk about the positive side of the supernatural, mainly, I want to talk about being possessed with the Holy Spirit.

It's interesting to me how many people I have spoken with that, again, believe in demonic possession; however, ask them about the Bible, and they scoff and say that the Bible is a book of fairy tales. So, to them, spirits are real, just not a spirit that is a God.

The Bible was written by mere men. Men chosen by God, not because they were better than anyone else; not because they didn't sin as much as the next man. No, it was because they were humble enough to realize and believe that God does indeed exist. They were chosen, because they were actually “possessed” and willingly used by the Holy Spirit.

The Bible tells us this;

2 Peter 1:21

For prophecy never had its origin in the human will, but prophets, though human, spoke from God as they were carried along by the Holy Spirit.

2 Timothy 3:16

16 All Scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for [a]instruction in righteousness

Just as we are aware that a demon possessed person is inhabited and used by the spirit, so we can begin to see that a person indwelt with the Holy Spirit can be used as well.

How did God use these men and women in Scripture? He “possessed” them! He possessed them and then had many of them become authors of the Scriptures. The authors of the Bible “spoke from God as they were carried along by the Holy Spirit.”

So literally, every time you read the Bible, you are reading what God intended for you to read, because it was really God dwelling in these humans and guiding their thoughts, hearts and minds to write the truth to us.

So, who is dwelling within you?
